A quick wrap up of spring 2022

The Sommly team has been incredibly busy over the past few months. On March 28th, we reached the point of website development that we were able to push all of our marketplace features live. This was a big milestone for the team as we’ve been working on Sommly since November, 2020.

Today, the website has 452 Texas winery profile pages and 84 bottles listed on the website. We’ve seen strong numbers of users who are signing up for the platform, leaving reviews, purchasing wine, and claiming their winery page. The website is still a work-in-progress – over the next two weeks, we’ll be launching some big improvements to the wine buying experience with a better cart, search, and filtering capabilities.

In the near term, we plan to add an event calendar where wineries can advertise in person and virtual events. And wineries on our “Grow” and “Fly” subscriptions will soon be able to advertise their wine club directly from their winery profile page.

On May 25th (National Wine Day), an article about Sommly was published in the Austin Business Journal, “Austin startup Sommly eager to disrupt wine industry.” Since then, we’ve had many wineries from across the globe reach out to us to get started on Sommly. For now, we’re focused 100% on Texas wineries, but we’ve started a waitlist for when we’re ready to launch in other regions.

Earlier this month we wrapped up the Texas Venture Labs (TVL) accelerator program. We were accepted into the spring 2022 cohort back in January and were assigned a team of masters and doctoral level students who worked with us on several major initiatives. A big “thank you” to our team!

If you’re a Texas-based winery, you can get started in a few clicks. Simply claim your winery profile page (it’s free!), and once approved, you’ll have access to edit content on your winery page. You can add photos, videos, highlight team members, and more. To have your winery profiled on our blog, contact us at info@sommly.com.

If you’re a wine lover, spend a few minutes writing a review of your favorite Texas winery and let others know what you like most about the winery and your favorite wine they produce!
